The Ipatiev House, or, as it was more sinisterly known, ‘The House of Special Purpose’. It was here, sadly, that the Romanov family would see out the rest of their lives. After their assassination their bodies were disposed of in nearby woods. In 1991 their remains were discovered, whereby they were given a state funeral by the then Russian authorities. In 1998, a Christian burial ceremony was held for the family.
